HOODED CRANE - Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge, Meigs County, TN - 12/13-15/11 - UPDATED

Hi All,

A would-be ABA rarity Code 5 HOODED CRANE (a Siberian and Manchurian crane which winters in China, Korea, and Japan), provenance unknown, was found with Sandhill Cranes at the famous Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Meigs County, Tennessee on 12/13.

The Hooded was seen again on the 14th, and today the 15th. There is even speculation that this may be the same bird that was seen in Idaho during spring 2010, and in Nebraska during spring 2011!
