Bell's Vireo - Muscle Shoals, Colbert County AL - 9/24/09

Hi All,

A Bell's Vireo was found in Colbert County AL this morning! Bell's Vireo is a review species and very rare in Georgia!

Directions from Damien Simbeck:

The site is on the TVA Muscle Shoals reservation in Colbert County, AL. From Atlanta, travel east to Birmingham, then north to Cullman. Exit I-65 at Highway 157 (exit 310, I think). Follow Hwy 157 to Muscle Shoals. In Muscle Shoals, travel north on Highway 133 to the Muscle Shoals Reservation (last intersection before crossing the Tennessee River). Turn right onto the access road and curve around to the second red light (end of access road). Turn left and travel about 1 mile to the entrance to Complex F (big blue sign). Travel to the end of this road and there will be a parking lot on the right. The trail is an abandoned road that heads west from this parking lot. The road is gated (no vehicular traffic), but foot traffic is allowed beyond the gate.

Thanks Damien and Good Near Georgia Birding to Everyone!

Mark
