Black-billed Cuckoo - Watauga County and Blue Ridge Parkway NC - 8/8-9/09

Hi All,

This weekend there were two reports of Black-billed Cuckoo, one from Watauga County, North Carolina, and one from the Blue Ridge Parkway at Crabtree Meadows, in North Carolina as well!

Although in the more distant past there have been extremely rare and local breeding records in Georgia for Black-billed Cuckoo, the bird is considered to be a rare migrant in the state.

Similarly to the NC Blue Ridge Parkway Olive-sided Flycatcher report from yesterday, these reports come from the area closest to Georgia where Black-billed Cuckoos regularly breed!
